During my Bachelor’s degree I only went abroad within the EU. So my goal was to go far away during my Master’s degree.
I study the Master ‘Strategic and International Management’ at ‘Deggendorf Institute of Technology’. My faculty offers a Double Degree in collaboration with USC and I took the chance and applied for the best time of my life.
Studying abroad at USC was the best decision I could have made. Studying at USC – especially in a Masters’ program – is more effort and the workload is much higher compared to Germany, but due to the variety of courses, you can learn about many different topics. The professors at USC try to help whenever they can, you can write them messages at all times and they often reply quickly. Writing a lot of assignments is pretty challenging and some weeks are fully packed with study time in the library but nevertheless there is still enough time to enjoy the beauty of the Sunshine Coast and Australia. USC offers a modern library with a huge selection of books and excellent databases you can use to support your assignments. Besides offering good study conditions, I enjoyed spending time on campus drinking coffee or meeting friends. The USC sport facilities offer a good distraction from studying and assignments. My impression of USC and the time here was: love at first sight!
Besides spending my time at the library, in lectures or on campus, I had the chance to travel around, explore the beauty of Australia and enjoy the time with newly found friends. During your time at USC, you will have legendary party nights to remember, (don’t miss Orientation Week!!), weekends at Byron Bay or Noosa and in the wonderful Sunshine Coast Hinterland for day trips. Brisbane is just 1.5h away by train and the Sunshine Coast Airport offers direct flights to Sydney or Melbourne.
As you have a one-week break during your semester you can travel –like we did- to Melbourne and enjoy your time there. But many other options are available to make your time here at USC a time to remember, a time you will never forget and memories and friends for a lifetime.
Places and events, you should not miss during your time at USC:
- Glasshouse Mountains
- Great Barrier Reef
- Eumundi Market
- AFL Match (Australian Football)
- USC Sport Events (Rugby, Netball,…)
- Byron Bay / Gold Coast
- Having awesome burgers at Grill’d
- Enjoying Churros at San Churro in the Sunshine Plaza
- Spending your day shopping at K-mart
- At least once Party in the Helm (Helm is home!!)
- Saturday night on Ocean Street
See you later 😉
